WDC Goes Pink

By Mavis Opokua Nshira
Seeing women come to learn at the center and hearing the growing conversation about breast cancer in Ghana moved me deeply.
With Breast Cancer Awareness Month approaching, I knew I had to do something.Â
As the Senior Specialist at the Women’s Development Center, I take great joy in watching women master new skills, strengthen their literacy and entrepreneurial confidence, and grow businesses that uplift their families.Â
But I’ve noticed something along the way: while women get excited about transforming their lives, they sometimes forget to prioritize their health.Â
So, I consulted the community, and we hatched a plan. We partnered with the Koforidua Polyclinic in Ghana to take action—and the women were eager to participate.
More than fifty-three women came to learn about breast cancer.Â
They discovered that it’s the most common cancer in Ghana and that many cases are diagnosed at advanced stages due to delayed screening and treatment.Â
Every woman who attended was screened and received preventive guidance from health professionals.Â
The atmosphere was filled with relief, gratitude, and renewed commitment to health.
I am deeply thankful to God for the opportunity to help women in need—and to partners like you for supporting the WDC in making education like this possible.Â
Together, we are not only empowering women to build better futures but also helping them live healthier, longer lives and experience the goodness of God.
